Emily Ratajkowski Calls Out Celeste Barber For ‘Misogynistic’ Parodies And Asks Her To Stop

Emily Ratajkowski has spoken out about Celeste Barber’s parodies of her photos—and she’s not laughing.

Emily Ratajkowski has made it clear that she is not amused by comedian Celeste Barber’s parody posts of her Instagram photos.

Barber, 40, is an Australian comedian and social media star best known for recreating exaggerated celebrity photos with her own humorous twist.

While Barber’s fans love her take on over-the-top celebrity culture, it seems that the celebrities she mimics are not always thrilled with the jokes.

Ratajkowski, 31, recently addressed Barber directly, saying she no longer wants to be part of her comedy material.

Back in 2021, she blocked Barber after the comedian made fun of one of her swimwear campaigns. Barber had captioned the post:

“We are sick of you objectifying our bodies! Also, here’s my a**.”

She later spoke about it during an interview on Australia’s Nova radio station, telling Fitzy and Wippa:

“I don’t think Emily is a fan. That’s OK, she’s allowed to not love it. But she blocked me.”

Barber’s parody post sparked backlash, with some of her followers criticizing the comedian for reinforcing “internalized misogyny” and suggesting that women were to blame for objectification if they chose to show off their bodies.

Now, Ratajkowski has shared her thoughts on Barber’s jokes while responding to a fan’s question on her High Low podcast.

She explained her feelings, saying:

“This whole drama with Celeste has been blown out of proportion. In general, I find her to be really funny. But, [the] message I was trying to send to her was, ‘I just don’t want you to do this to me anymore.'”

“[I want] to be able to do my thing, whether that be writing about my terrifying experiences in an industry that doesn’t protect women and young girls and femme-presenting people while also having a bathing suit line.”

At the time Barber made her post, Ratajkowski had written an essay for The Cut titled “Buying Myself Back,” where she reflected on how people often used her image without her consent for their own purposes.

She added:

“I was like, I’m not giving her my consent for this joke anymore. It just landed at a specific time for me.”

Ratajkowski also clarified that she does not personally dislike Barber but believes the comedian’s approach to humor often unfairly targets women who confidently show their bodies—something that happens to be a big part of Ratajkowski’s career.

She explained:

“We really love to pick on female influencers, like they are considered the trash, lamest, most cringe, most embarrassing people on the planet.”

“I fundamentally find that to be sexist. Yeah, no s**t women want to be influencers – it’s one of the ways that women have learned to be successful and make money. They’re hustling.”

However, Barber has not publicly responded to Ratajkowski’s criticism, and it appears she doesn’t see a problem with her comedic approach.

Ratajkowski also cleared the air around the drama that happened in 2021 stating that she has no ill will toward Barber but she specifically finds her style of humor to be inherently misogynistic about women who put their bodies on display – which happens to be a pretty big part of the model’s job.

She explained:

“We really love to pick on female influencers, like they are considered the trash, lamest, most cringe, most embarrassing people on the planet.”

But it seems like Barber does not agree with the model and here are some of the most hilarious celebrity pictures that she has recreated
