The announcement came during an interview on Fox News, where Tuberville reflected on his journey from football coach to public servant. “As you know, I coached, and it was a great time. We made some great friends,” he said. “A few years ago, I decided to give back to this great country—and today, I will announce that I will be the future governor of the great state of Alabama.”
Tuberville, who had a long and successful career as head coach at Auburn University, has often drawn parallels between leadership on the football field and leadership in public service. “I’m a football coach. I’m a leader. I’m a builder. I’m a recruiter,” he said. “And we’re going to grow Alabama.”
In his campaign announcement, Tuberville laid out several of his goals for the state, including strengthening local industry, improving education, and creating opportunities to keep young people living
and working in Alabama. “We’re going to bring manufacturing to this state… and we’re going to do everything possible to make sure our kids stay in this state and work,” he added.
