Pete Davidson has been undergoing an intense laser removal process to erase nearly 200 tattoos, including tributes to his famous exes, a portrait of Hillary Clinton, and a SpongeBob SquarePants character.

A Costly and Painful Transformation

Known for his extensive body art, the 31-year-old Saturday Night Live alum has spent years—and over $200,000—removing tattoos that once defined his rebellious persona. While Davidson has always loved his ink, he admitted that his growing career in Hollywood made them more of a burden than a statement.

“I honestly never thought I’d get the chance to act, and I love it,” he shared on Late Night with Seth Meyers, explaining that covering his tattoos for film roles added hours to his prep time. “For some reason, people in movies don’t have them that much.”

‘The Dumbest Tattoos’

Davidson’s tattoo collection began in his teenage years and eventually covered much of his body, featuring everything from a tribute to his late firefighter father (who died on 9/11) to pop culture references like Harry Potter and Saturday Night Live. Some of his more infamous tattoos included nods to Kim Kardashian and Ariana Grande, as well as cartoon characters smoking blunts.

“I made a lot of those decisions before rehab, so I have the dumbest tattoos,” he joked on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.

‘It’s Horrible’

Determined to remove his tattoos as part of his sobriety journey, Davidson acknowledged the process is grueling—especially for colorful ink, which requires multiple laser treatments.

“They gotta burn off a layer of your skin, then it has to heal for six to eight weeks before doing it again—like 12 more times,” he explained. “It’s horrible.”

The ‘Official Boyfriend’ Reveal

Despite the pain, Davidson recently embraced his new look in a campaign for Reformation, a sustainable fashion brand. In the ad, he plays the ultimate supportive boyfriend, waiting outside dressing rooms as women try on outfits.

While the campaign itself is playful, the biggest buzz came from the jaw-dropping images that showcased Davidson’s nearly ink-free torso—a major shift from his once heavily tattooed appearance.

Davidson says he’s “trying to be an adult,” and his transformation marks a new chapter in both his personal life and career. But while his signature tattoos may be fading, his sense of humor remains intact.
